The WALTER-PROTOTYP 5115564 is a solid carbide helical flute thread mill designed for cutting internal 1/8-27 NPT threads in a single helical pass. The tool features three right-hand flutes and a TiCN coating that increases surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. With a 7.90 mm cutting diameter and an 8.00 mm shank diameter, the 5115564 mounts directly into standard tool holders used on CNC machining centers. It produces NPT taper pipe threads at 27 teeth per inch (TPI) with a length of cut of 11.50 mm, making it well suited for threading pipe ports in manifolds, hydraulic bodies, and fittings.
This thread mill is used in CNC milling applications requiring internal NPT pipe thread profiles. The 1/8-27 NPT designation makes it a common choice for threading ports in hydraulic and pneumatic components, fluid fittings, instrumentation blocks, and plumbing adapters machined from metal. The 58.00 mm overall length provides adequate reach for most standard-depth port applications. Machinists and tooling specialists in job shops, production facilities, and custom fabrication operations select this tool for its carbide rigidity and the dimensional consistency delivered by helical interpolation threading.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation; compatible with standard ER or milling chuck tool holders sized for an 8.00 mm shank. Cuts internal 1/8-27 NPT thread profiles per NPT thread standard.
Installation and operation of this tool requires a CNC machining center programmed with a helical interpolation thread milling cycle; consult the machine control documentation and verify the correct G-code thread milling routine before running. Secure the shank fully within the tool holder to the manufacturer-specified minimum engagement depth and verify runout with a dial indicator before production cuts. Power down the machine and follow lockout/tagout procedures before changing or inspecting the tool. Inspect the cutting edges and TiCN coating for wear or chipping at regular intervals, as carbide thread mills are brittle and sensitive to interrupted cuts or lateral shock.
