The WALTER-PROTOTYP 5076107 is a straight-flute machine tap designed for cutting M1.2 x 0.25 metric internal threads in small-diameter blind holes and through-holes. Built from M35-grade cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tap delivers reliable performance in tough-to-tap materials. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of blind holes, making it well suited for precision work where thread depth is limited. With 3 flutes and a right-hand thread direction, the 5076107 is intended for use in automated or semi-automated machine tapping operations requiring consistent, repeatable results.
This tap is engineered for use in machine tapping applications across a range of materials including aluminum, non-ferrous metals, gray cast iron, malleable cast iron, spheroidal cast iron, vermicular cast iron, plastics, fiber reinforced plastics, and graphite. With an overall length of 40 millimeters and a thread length of 5 millimeters, it fits standard small-part machining setups in both production and job-shop environments. The Series 20311 designation identifies it within the WALTER-PROTOTYP tap program. It is appropriate for both blind hole and through-hole threading applications.
Designed for machine tapping M1.2 x 0.25 metric threads in blind and through-hole applications across aluminum, non-ferrous metals, cast irons, plastics, fiber reinforced plastics, and graphite workpieces.
This tap is intended for installation and use by machinists and tooling technicians operating CNC machining centers, drill presses, or tapping machines. Ensure the spindle speed and feed rate are set per the material being tapped and the tap manufacturer recommendations before operation. Secure the tap in an appropriate tap holder or collet chuck to maintain alignment and reduce the risk of breakage in small-diameter tapping. Always disengage power to the machine and confirm the spindle is fully stopped before changing or inspecting tooling.
