The WALTER 6955646 is a CCGT09T308-FN2 WNN10 carbide turning insert designed primarily for machining non-ferrous metals. It features an 80-degree diamond shape with a positive rake angle of 18 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle, delivering clean, precise cuts in aluminum, copper, and similar materials. The insert carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which supports thermal resistance and edge durability. With a 0.8 mm corner radius, a 9.53 mm inscribed circle, and a honed cutting edge style, this insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations. Installation uses a screw-holding method. It is used by machinists and CNC lathe operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is classified under the CCGT-FN2 series and applies to turning, facing, and boring operations. The FN2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for non-ferrous materials at its primary application but is also rated for secondary use on steel and stainless steel under appropriate cutting conditions. The insert follows ANSI and ISO standards and carries ISO code CCGT09T308-FN2 WNN10 with industry standard number CCGT3(2.5)2-FN2 WNN10. It is a neutral-hand insert with 2 cutting edges per body, making it a practical multi-use option for shops running varied workpiece materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for toolholders accepting CCGT-style inserts with a screw-holding method. Compatible with turning, facing, and boring applications on non-ferrous metals (primary), steel, and stainless steel (secondary). Material grades WNN10, N10, P01, and M01 are specified.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
