The WALTER 6841390 is a solid carbide round milling insert in the ROMX series, designed for high-performance face and contour milling operations. It carries manufacturer grade WSM45X with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiCN for wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert measures 0.4720 inches in inscribed circle diameter (12.00 mm) with a thickness of 0.1875 inches (4.76 mm) and delivers a maximum depth of cut of 0.2360 inches (12.70 mm). Four cutting edges, a positive rake angle of 10 degrees, an 11-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge style make this insert suited for demanding milling in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. A licensed machinist or CNC tooling technician is the typical installer.
This insert is engineered for milling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in both production and job-shop environments. The D57 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in tough, work-hardening materials. The neutral hand orientation allows flexible application across a variety of milling setups. The ROMX1204M0-D57 ANSI and ISO designation aligns this insert with the F2334R cutter series for direct drop-in use. It is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes where consistent edge life in difficult materials is required.
Confirmed compatible with the F2334R cutter series. ANSI and ISO designation is ROMX1204M0-D57 WSM45X. Insert size code is 1204M0. Verify seat geometry and screw size against your cutter body specification before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle completely before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to the cutter body manufacturers specified seating torque for the insert screw - do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamp load. Inspect the pocket seat and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
