The WALTER 6807395 is a solid carbide milling insert in the SDMT series, designed for indexable milling cutters used in ferrous machining applications. Carrying the WKP25S grade designation, this insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiCN for wear resistance and thermal stability during steel and cast iron cutting. The square SDMT insert style offers 4 cutting edges with a positive rake angle of 10 degrees and a 15-degree relief angle. A honed cutting edge style prepares the edge for consistent chip formation. The insert is screw-held and fits M4000 series cutter bodies, making it a standard choice for professional machinists running production milling operations.
This insert is suited for milling steel and cast iron in both roughing and semi-finishing passes. The D51 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation at moderate to high feed rates. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.3750 inches (9.52 mm) and a neutral hand designation, it can be used in a range of milling orientations. It is intended for use in CNC machining centers where the compatible M4000 cutter series is employed. The insert follows both ANSI and ISO standards under the code SDMT09T308-D51 WKP25S, simplifying cross-referencing for toolroom and procurement use.
Designed for use with the M4000 cutter series. ANSI and ISO code SDMT09T308-D51 WKP25S. Suitable for primary workpiece materials classified as steel (P) and cast iron (K) per ISO material grade designations P25 and K25.
This insert is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate torx or hex key screw for the M4000 cutter body. Always power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the cutter pocket seat and clamping screw for damage before seating the new insert. Do not overtighten the clamping screw; follow the cutter body manufacturer's fastener specification.
