The WALTER 6092285 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying grade WSM33S and the GX2F300N02CE4 designation from the Tiger-tec series. It is engineered for external and face grooving operations on CNC turning centers and grooving machines. The insert features a 0.1181 inch (3.00 mm) cutting width with a 0.0079 inch (0.20 mm) corner radius and a neutral hand orientation. A multilayer PVD coating stack of Al2O3, TiAlN, and ZrCN provides thermal resistance and wear protection during high-speed cuts. The CE4 chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation. Licensed machinists and CNC toolroom technicians are the typical installers.
This insert is suited for grooving and parting operations on superalloys, stainless steels, and general steels, covering primary workpiece material codes M, P, and S. The WSM33S grade and Tiger-tec coating system are intended for challenging materials that generate high cutting temperatures and abrasive wear. Typical applications include aerospace component machining, energy sector parts, and precision medical components where tight groove tolerances are required. The CE4 chip breaker supports stable chip formation across a range of depths of cut in these demanding materials.
This insert carries ANSI code GX242F300N02CE4 WSM33S and ISO code GX24-2F300N02-CE4, and is designed to seat in clamp-style grooving toolholders that accept GX-style inserts in size 2F300N02. Confirm toolholder compatibility against the GX24 interface specification before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per the facility lockout/tagout procedure. Seat the insert firmly in the toolholder pocket and verify clamp engagement before initiating any cut. Inspect the insert seating pocket for chips or debris that could cause improper seating and premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque guidance and verify insert orientation before running the program.
