The WALTER 6092252 is a solid carbide grooving insert engineered for precision grooving operations on superalloys, steels, and stainless materials. Carrying the manufacturer grade WSM33S and operating in the Tiger-tec series, this double-ended insert features a PVD-applied multilayer coating of Al2O3, TiAlN, and ZrCN for extended tool life in demanding cutting environments. The insert delivers a 4.00 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 22.00 mm, with a corner radius of 0.30 mm. It is intended for use by machinists and tooling specialists working on CNC lathes and turning centers where tight tolerances and consistent chip control are required.
This insert is suited for production and job-shop turning applications targeting superalloys, steels, and stainless workpieces classified under material grades S30, M30, and P35. The CE4 chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation during grooving and parting. The neutral hand orientation and clamp-style holding method make it compatible with standard GX-style toolholders used in both roughing and finishing grooving passes. It is not limited to a single material family, making it a flexible option across multi-material production runs.
Designed for use with GX-style clamp-type grooving toolholders accepting insert size code 3E400N03. Compatible material grades include S30, M30, and P35, covering superalloy, stainless, and steel workpiece families. ANSI code GX243E400N03CE4 WSM33S and ISO code GX24-3E400N03-CE4 apply for toolholder cross-reference.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clear of the workpiece before seating or replacing the insert. Verify the insert is fully seated against the toolholder pocket and the clamp is secured according to toolholder manufacturer specifications before resuming cutting. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut of 22.00 mm during operation.
