The WALTER 5886208 is a solid carbide milling insert in the ADMT series, designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling in steel and cast iron applications. Carrying the WKP35S manufacturer grade, this single-sided, right-hand insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN / Al2O3 / TiCN for wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The parallelogram insert body measures 0.375 inches in length and 0.266 inches in width, with a thickness of 0.132 inches. A 15-degree relief angle combined with a positive rake angle of 16 degrees and a chamfered, honed cutting edge geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces across a range of feed and depth conditions.
This insert is suited for milling operations on steel (ISO material code P) and cast iron (ISO material code K), covering material grades P35 and K35. It is compatible with the F2252, F4038, and F4042 cutter series and uses the F56 chip breaker geometry. Typical applications include roughing to semi-finishing passes on machining centers and CNC milling machines in production shop and job shop environments. The insert is held in the cutter body by screw clamping and provides two cutting edges per insert, supporting a maximum depth of cut of 0.375 inches. ANSI and ISO standards are both recognized for this insert under code ADMT080308R-F56 WKP35S.
Compatible with the F2252, F4038, and F4042 cutter series. Rated for steel (P35) and cast iron (K35) workpiece materials. ANSI and ISO code: ADMT080308R-F56 WKP35S.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician using the screw-clamp method; ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before seating or rotating inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before installation. Verify insert orientation for right-hand cutting direction before engaging the clamping screw. Follow the cutter manufacturer torque guidelines for the specific cutter body being used.
