The WALTER 5622791 is a right-hand indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder in the G1011 series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts GX24-2E3/F3 series inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method, providing rigid, repeatable edge positioning. The shank measures 1 inch x 1 inch (25.4 x 25.4 mm) with a shank length of 4.331 inches (110 mm) and an overall length of 5.906 inches (150.01 mm). Groove width range is 0.118 to 0.125 inches (3 to 3.18 mm), and maximum depth of cut is 0.827 inches (21.01 mm). Installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians, this holder is suited for production grooving and cutoff applications across a broad range of workpiece materials.
This toolholder is built for external grooving and cutoff operations and is compatible with universal workpiece material groups, including cast iron, non-ferrous, stainless, steel, superalloys, and general materials (ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, S). The G1011 series head design provides consistent positioning for repeatability across high-volume turning operations. It is well suited for use in job shop and production environments where multiple material types are encountered in a single setup.
Designed for use with GX24-2E3/F3 series inserts. Confirmed compatible insert part numbers include: GX24-2E300N02-CE4, GX24-2E300N02-CF5, GX24-2E300N02-CF6, GX24-2E300N020-CE4, GX24-2E300N03-GD3, GX24-2E300N03-GD6, GX24-2E300N03-UD6, GX24-2E300N03-UF4, GX24-2E300N030-GD3, GX24-2E300N030-UA4, GX24-2E300N030-UF4, GX24-2E300N15-RD4, and GX24-2E300N150-RD4.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Verify the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before mounting or adjusting the toolholder. Ensure the shank seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before clamping to prevent runout. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling system torque and clamping guidelines for the toolpost or turret used.
