The WALTER 5204709 is a right-hand A-SCLC indexable boring bar designed for internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Built from steel, it features a 3/8-inch (0.375 inch) shank diameter and a 12.19mm (0.480 inch) minimum bore diameter, making it well suited for tight-bore finish and semi-finish work. The overall length is 152.40mm (6.000 inches). Insert holding is accomplished via screw clamp, and through-coolant capability is integrated directly into the bar to support chip evacuation and thermal control at the cutting zone. Compatible inserts follow the CC.. 0602.. and CC.. 21.5.. designations - diamond-shaped inserts with a 6.35mm (0.250 inch) inscribed circle and neutral rake geometry.
This boring bar is intended for use in precision boring applications in metalworking environments, including job shops and production machining operations. The A-SCLC toolholder style and 95-degree lead angle position the insert for stable, low-vibration cuts in bores close to the minimum diameter threshold. It belongs to the Walter Turn series and is appropriate for machinists and CNC operators working with small-bore internal features requiring consistent diameter control and surface finish.
Accepts CC.. 0602.. and CC.. 21.5.. compatible insert size codes - diamond-shaped inserts with a 1/4-inch (0.250 inch) inscribed circle and 3/32-inch (0.0938 inch) insert thickness. Part of the Walter Turn series.
Installation and tooling changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state per applicable machine-safety procedures. Confirm shank diameter compatibility with the toolholder or turret before mounting. Connect through-coolant supply lines per machine tool builder specifications, and verify coolant pressure is within the range recommended for the insert grade and workpiece material before initiating a cut.
