The WALTER 5041508 is a countersunk cap screw designed to secure indexable inserts in turning toolholders. It uses a TP15 Torx drive and features a flat point, making it the correct fastener for clamping indexable inserts against shimmed seats in precision turning setups. This screw is part of the Walter Capto and Walter Turn series and is compatible with the FS1465 key or driver. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians install this hardware during insert changes on CNC and manual turning centers. Small and lightweight at 0.02 pounds, it is a consumable component that should be replaced whenever wear or thread damage is observed.
This cap screw is used in turning applications on toolholders with C-DVJN, C-DVMN, C-DVUN, DVJN, and DVVN styles. It is also specified for use with shim hardware within those holders. It fits a broad range of VNMG and VNGG series inserts with a 0.63-inch inscribed circle, covering multiple geometry and grade variants used in general turning, finishing, and light roughing operations. It is suited for both shop floor and production environments where consistent clamping torque and insert seating are critical to tool life and dimensional accuracy.
Compatible with C-DVJN, C-DVMN, C-DVUN, DVJN, and DVVN toolholder styles and shim hardware within those holders. Confirmed insert compatibility includes: VNMG 160404-C5, VNMG 160404-M2, VNMG 160408-M2, VNMG160404-MP3, VNMG160404-NM4, VNMG160408-MP3, VNMG160408-NM4, VNMG160412-MP3, VNMG331-MP3, VNMG331-NM4, VNMG332-MP3, VNMG332-NM4, VNMG333-MP3, VNMP 331 M2, VNMP 332 M2, VNGG 160401-SR, VNGG 160402-SR, and VNGG series inserts.
This fastener is installed by machinists or tooling technicians during routine indexable insert changes on turning toolholders. Power down the machine and ensure the spindle is locked before accessing the toolholder. Use only the specified FS1465 Torx driver to avoid rounding the drive recess. Do not reuse a screw that shows thread damage, deformation, or a worn drive socket, as compromised fasteners can cause insert movement and dimensional errors during cutting.
