The WALTER 5022073 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT-PM5 Series Tiger-tec line, designed for high-productivity metal cutting in turning, facing, and boring operations. It carries a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which delivers wear resistance across a range of cutting conditions. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. A grade of WAK20 makes it well suited for cast iron and steel workpieces. Chip breaker geometry PM5 is optimized for roughing and medium machining passes.

This insert is intended for use in machine shops and production environments where indexable tooling is used on CNC lathes and turning centers. Primary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO material code K), with secondary application in steel (ISO material code P). It suits both roughing and medium-depth cuts, with a maximum depth of cut of 3.99 mm (0.157 inches).
