The VLIER SSSD60 is a threaded spring plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty locking applications in industrial and mechanical assemblies. The plunger features a 1/2-13 thread with a 1-1/4 inch thread length and a standard plunger length of 1-1/4 inches. The nose projects 1/4 inch and has a minimum diameter of 0.247 inches and a maximum diameter of 0.248 inches. Initial end force is 6.6 pounds and final end force is 17.4 pounds. The stainless steel body resists corrosion in demanding environments, while the Delrin nose reduces wear on mating surfaces. Machinists, toolmakers, and mechanical assembly technicians typically install this plunger into tapped holes in fixtures, jigs, and equipment frames.
The SSSD60 is suited for use in production fixtures, automation equipment, tooling plates, and machine components where repeatable positioning or detent action is required. Its stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for washdown-prone or corrosive environments. The standard plunger length type and 1/4 inch projection keep it compatible with typical shallow-socket indexing applications across a wide range of light industrial and precision assembly setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit spring plunger for fixtures, jigs, tooling plates, and machinery requiring a 1/2-13 threaded spring plunger with a standard 1-1/4 inch body length.
Install into a properly tapped 1/2-13 through or blind hole using a hex key or appropriate drive tool on the body. Power down or de-energize any equipment before servicing fixtures or assemblies that contain this plunger. Ensure the mating detent pocket diameter and depth are matched to the 0.247-0.248 inch nose diameter and 1/4 inch projection to achieve the rated end-force engagement. Do not over-torque the body, as stainless-to-stainless galling can occur without proper thread lubricant.
