The VLIER SSS64N is a threaded spring plunger designed for precision positioning, indexing, and light-duty locking applications in industrial and mechanical assemblies. The body and nose are constructed from stainless steel, making this plunger suitable for corrosion-prone or washdown environments. It features a 3/4-10 thread with a 1-3/4 inch thread length and a standard plunger projection of 5/16 inches. Initial end force is 6.7 pounds and final end force is 37.3 pounds, providing a defined force range across the plunger travel. A locking element is incorporated to secure the plunger at the desired position after installation. Machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians are the primary installers.
The SSS64N is used in machine tool fixtures, jigs, automation equipment, and mechanical assemblies where repeatable detent positioning or light holding force is required. The stainless steel construction makes it well suited for food processing equipment, medical device fixtures, marine environments, and other applications where carbon steel components are not acceptable. The 3/4-10 thread size fits standard tapped holes of that designation, and the 1-3/4 inch body length accommodates typical panel and plate thicknesses used in these assemblies.
Designed as a direct-fit threaded spring plunger for applications requiring a 3/4-10 tapped hole with a standard body length of 1-3/4 inches. Suitable for use in fixtures, jigs, and mechanical assemblies that require an OEM-style or replacement stainless steel spring plunger with a locking element.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a hex wrench or spanner compatible with the plunger body. The receiving hole must be tapped to a 3/4-10 specification and cleaned of debris before installation. The locking element should be engaged after the plunger is threaded to the desired depth to prevent backing out under vibration or repeated cycling. De-energize or lock out any powered equipment before servicing assemblies containing this plunger.
