The VLIER PH55N is a standard threaded spring plunger designed to provide controlled, repeatable positioning force in mechanical assemblies. It features a 1/4-20 thread size with a 1 inch thread length and a steel body, making it suitable for use in fixtures, jigs, tooling, and other precision mechanical applications. The spring-loaded nose projects 3/16 inches and delivers an initial end force of 1 pound, a middle end force of 2.5 pounds, and a final end force of 4 pounds. A built-in locking element prevents the plunger from backing out under vibration or repeated cycling, adding reliability in demanding environments. Installation is straightforward for machinists, toolmakers, and mechanical assemblers.
The PH55N is used in light-duty positioning, detenting, and indexing applications where a compact, threaded plunger is needed to hold a workpiece, panel, or moving component in place under moderate spring force. It is well suited for machine tool fixtures, assembly jigs, and OEM mechanical equipment where space is limited and consistent force repeatability is required. The steel body and nose construction make it appropriate for industrial shop environments where durability under repeated actuation is expected.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-install threaded spring plunger for mechanical fixtures, jigs, tooling, and indexing assemblies requiring a 1/4-20 threaded plunger with a locking element.
Install into a properly tapped 1/4-20 through or blind hole using a hex key sized to the 0.079 inch hex drive. Ensure the receiving bore is clean and free of debris before threading in the plunger. Torque to the assembly requirement for the application without over-driving, as over-tightening can distort the locking element. Disengage any spring-loaded or moving components in the assembly before servicing or replacing the plunger.
