The VLIER NS60N is a threaded spring plunger designed for precision positioning and retention applications in industrial and mechanical assemblies. Featuring a 1/2-13 thread size with a 1-1/4 inch thread length, this standard-length plunger delivers an initial end force of 6.6 pounds and a final end force of 17.4 pounds. The steel body provides durability in demanding environments, while the phenolic nose resists wear and reduces marring on mating surfaces. A built-in locking element secures the plunger in position once installed, preventing back-out under vibration or repeated loading cycles. Machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians typically install this component.
The NS60N suits applications requiring repeatable indexing, component registration, or spring-loaded retention in fixtures, jigs, tooling plates, and machine assemblies. With a plunger projection of 1/4 inch and a plunger diameter ranging from 0.246 to 0.248 inches, it fits tapped holes where controlled engagement force and accurate plunger travel are required. This plunger is appropriate for both light-production tooling and maintenance repair applications where a positive-locking threaded spring plunger is specified.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-install threaded spring plunger for applications requiring a 1/2-13 threaded body with standard plunger length and locking element retention.
Installation is performed by threading the NS60N into a properly tapped 1/2-13 hole using a hex key or appropriate installation tool applied to the body. Ensure the mating hole is clean and free of debris before installation. The locking element engages the thread flanks during installation to resist loosening - do not use thread-locking adhesives unless specified by the assembly engineer, as removal may become difficult. De-energize or lock out any machine or fixture before servicing or replacing spring plungers in automated equipment.
