The VLIER NNS55 is a standard threaded spring plunger designed to provide controlled, repeatable positioning and holding force in mechanical assemblies. The body is machined from steel with a Delrin nose, combining corrosion-resistant performance with a low-friction contact surface. Threaded at 1/4-20 with a 1 inch thread length, it installs directly into a tapped hole and delivers 1 pound of initial end force and 4 pounds of final end force. Machinists, toolmakers, and mechanical assembly technicians are the primary installers of this type of component.
This plunger is suited for use in fixtures, jigs, tooling plates, and light-duty indexing applications where a positive but releasable detent is needed. The Delrin nose reduces marring on workpiece surfaces, making it appropriate for precision assemblies where surface finish must be maintained. It installs in standard tapped holes without special tooling and is compatible with typical machine shop and assembly line environments.
Designed as a standard OEM-style threaded spring plunger for use in fixtures, jigs, and mechanical assemblies requiring a 1/4-20 tapped hole with a 1 inch thread engagement depth.
Installation requires a properly tapped 1/4-20 hole at the correct depth to accommodate the full thread length. A hex key or appropriate driver should be used to seat the plunger without over-torquing, which can damage the Delrin nose or distort the spring mechanism. Power down or de-energize any associated equipment before servicing assemblies containing spring plungers. Confirm plunger projection and force values are appropriate for the application before final installation.
