The VLIER NNS53 is a standard threaded spring plunger designed to provide controlled, repeatable positioning and detent action in mechanical assemblies. The body is machined from steel and fitted with a Delrin nose, giving it corrosion resistance at the contact point alongside the structural rigidity of the steel body. The 10-32 threaded shank has a 3/4-inch thread length, and the plunger delivers an initial end force of 1.30 pounds and a final end force of 2.70 pounds. The plunger diameter runs from 0.090 inches to 0.092 inches with a 1/8-inch projection. This part is installed by maintenance technicians, tool and die professionals, and mechanical assemblers working on indexing, locking, and positioning fixtures.
The NNS53 is suited for use in precision tooling, jigs, fixtures, and mechanical assemblies requiring a light-duty detent or positioning hold. It is typically installed in tapped through-holes or blind holes where repeatable spring-loaded engagement is needed. The Delrin nose reduces wear on mating surfaces, making it appropriate for applications where protecting the contact surface is a priority. Standard thread length configurations make it straightforward to source and replace in existing assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit spring plunger for mechanical assemblies, jigs, fixtures, and indexing mechanisms that use a standard 10-32 tapped hole.
Installation is performed by threading the NNS53 into a properly tapped 10-32 hole using a standard hex key or screwdriver slot, depending on the drive style. Ensure the receiving hole is clean and free of debris before installation to avoid cross-threading. Disengage any spring-loaded or pressurized components in the assembly before servicing. Do not overtighten, as excessive torque can deform the plunger mechanism or strip the thread.
