The VLIER M60 is a stubby threaded spring plunger designed for positioning, indexing, and light-retention applications in confined or restricted-space assemblies. It features a 1/2-13 thread with a 0.75 inch body and thread length, a maximum plunger diameter of 0.248 inches, and a projection of 0.151 inches. The steel nose and steel body deliver durability in high end-force applications where space constraints prevent the use of longer-body plungers. This component is installed by machinists, toolmakers, and mechanical assembly technicians working with fixtures, jigs, and precision mechanisms.
The M60 suits applications requiring a high end-force output within a compact envelope. Typical install scenarios include machine tool fixtures, workholding devices, assembly jigs, and mechanical indexing mechanisms where a standard-length plunger body will not fit. The stubby body length makes it appropriate for shallow threaded boss locations or close-pitch component layouts. The 5 lb initial end force and 28 lb final end force range supports firm positive detent or retention action under load.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded spring plunger for use in tapped holes accepting a 1/2-13 thread, commonly found in machine tool fixtures, workholding assemblies, and precision mechanical indexing applications requiring high end-force in a stubby form factor.
Installation is performed by machinists or mechanical assembly technicians using a standard hex wrench or spanner tool appropriate for the plunger body. Ensure the receiving tapped hole is clean and free of debris before threading in the plunger. De-energize or lock out any powered equipment before servicing assemblies containing spring plungers. Do not exceed the final end force rating by over-compressing the plunger nose, as this can damage the internal spring.
