The VLIER H66N is a threaded spring plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light clamping applications in industrial machinery and precision assemblies. It features a 1/8 thread size with a thread length of 2-13/32 inches and a plunger projection of 1/2 inch. The steel body and steel nose deliver durability under repeated cycling. An integrated locking element secures the plunger in position after installation, preventing loosening from vibration. Initial end force is 16 pounds, middle end force is 42 pounds, and final end force is 68 pounds, giving installers a predictable force progression across the full travel range. Mechanical assemblers and tooling technicians are the primary installers of this component.
The H66N is suited for use in jigs, fixtures, machine tool components, and automated assembly equipment where repeatable detent or positioning force is required. The standard plunger length type and 2-13/32 inch body length make it appropriate for through-hole or tapped-hole installations in medium-gauge steel or aluminum tooling plates. Applications include part nesting, slide indexing, and drawer or panel retention in industrial enclosures.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit spring plunger for industrial fixtures, jigs, and machine assemblies requiring a 1/8 threaded body with standard plunger geometry.
Installation is performed by mechanical assemblers or tooling technicians using a standard 1/2 inch wrench or hex key on the body hex. The mating bore must be properly tapped to the correct thread specification before installation. Power down or de-energize any associated automated equipment before servicing or replacing spring plungers in live tooling. Apply thread-locking compound sparingly if additional retention is needed beyond the integrated locking element, and avoid over-torquing to prevent thread damage in softer base materials.
