The VLIER DBM4A is a threaded ball plunger with an M4 x 0.7 thread size, designed for light-duty positioning, indexing, and detent applications in mechanical assemblies. The body is steel with a zinc-plated finish, and the ball is nylon, measuring 0.098 inches (2.50 mm) in diameter. The body length is 0.354 inches with a maximum ball reach of 0.032 inches. Initial end force is 0.9 pounds and final end force is 2.25 pounds, making this plunger well suited for low-force retention tasks. Machinists, toolmakers, and assembly technicians are the typical installers.
The DBM4A is used in jigs, fixtures, tooling plates, and light mechanical assemblies where a small spring-loaded ball is needed to locate, retain, or index a moving component. The M4 x 0.7 thread allows installation in standard metric-tapped holes. Its nylon ball minimizes surface marring on softer workpiece materials, and the compact body length keeps it practical for tight-clearance installations in precision tooling and automated fixture work.
Designed as a standard threaded ball plunger for use in metric-tapped M4 x 0.7 holes in jigs, fixtures, tooling plates, and light mechanical assemblies.
Install using appropriate metric hex or driver tooling into a clean, properly tapped M4 x 0.7 hole. De-energize or fully immobilize any associated machinery before installing or removing spring plungers in active fixtures. Do not overtighten, as this can deform the body or preload the ball mechanism beyond its rated travel. Verify ball reach and end force ratings are appropriate for the intended detent or indexing load before assembly.
