The VIEGA 77712 is a 1/2-inch copper ProPress cap designed to terminate copper tubing runs without soldering. It uses press-connect technology, allowing a licensed plumber to make a secure, leak-tested seal with a standard press tool in seconds. The Smart Connect feature leaves an intentional gap in the fitting sealing element, which causes an unpressed connection to leak during pressure testing rather than passing inspection undetected. This built-in verification mechanism is a key safety feature on commercial and residential plumbing installations where missed connections are a liability.
