The VIEGA 49348 is a PureFlow V5615 reducing coupling designed for PEX press piping systems. It joins a 1-1/2-inch nominal line to a 3/4-inch nominal branch or continuation, allowing a diameter reduction within a single fitting. The body is constructed from polymer, making it lightweight and compatible with cross-linked polyethylene tubing systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting during new construction and retrofit work where flow distribution or line-size changes are required in domestic water or hydronic applications.
This reducing coupling is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where PEX press technology is specified. The press-style end connection eliminates open flame during installation, making it appropriate for concealed spaces and fire-restricted assemblies. It fits within the Viega PureFlow system, which is widely used in potable water distribution, radiant heating supply and return lines, and other low-to-medium pressure piping layouts.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting for use within the Viega PureFlow PEX press system, compatible with 1-1/2-inch and 3/4-inch nominal PEX tubing where press-style connections are specified.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber using a Viega-compatible press tool and the correct jaw set for each tubing size. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before pressing any fittings. Press connections must be made per the manufacturer's procedure — do not use this fitting with crimp or clamp-style PEX tooling. Local plumbing codes, including applicable IPC requirements, govern inspection and approval of PEX press installations.
