The VESTIL MANUFACTURING D-150-17 is a three-piece foam-filled dock seal designed for standard 8-foot wide by 8-foot tall loading dock door openings with a 17-inch projection. It is engineered to create a tight barrier between a truck trailer and the dock face, reducing air infiltration, moisture intrusion, and energy loss during loading and unloading operations. The facing is constructed from nylon-reinforced vinyl, which carries a higher tear strength than equivalent-weight Hypalon material. Chemically sealed ends prevent moisture from penetrating the pad assembly. The foam-filled pads are mounted and bonded to a Wolmanized wood backer for structural durability. Licensed HVAC and dock equipment technicians typically handle installation at distribution centers and industrial facilities.
The D-150-17 is suited for flush dock-to-building applications where a 17-inch projection is appropriate. For flush dock-to-building installations used in conjunction with an Edge-O-Dock leveler, a 20-inch projection dock seal is recommended instead. Maximum recommended compression is 5 inches. The unit includes a through-the-wall installation kit with mounting hardware and installation instructions, making it compatible with standard masonry or framed dock wall construction. Completing the supplied survey sheet before ordering is recommended to confirm proper sizing for the specific dock opening.
Designed as an OEM-style dock seal for standard 8-foot wide by 8-foot tall loading dock door openings requiring a 17-inch projection. Not recommended for use with an Edge-O-Dock leveler on a flush dock application; a 20-inch projection unit is appropriate for that configuration.
Installation is performed by qualified dock equipment technicians or contractors familiar with loading dock systems. Shut down any powered dock leveler or vehicle restraint systems at the bay before beginning work. The included through-the-wall kit requires drilling into the dock wall; follow local building codes and the manufacturer-supplied instruction sheet for anchor placement. Do not exceed the recommended 5-inch maximum compression, as over-compression will accelerate pad wear and reduce seal effectiveness. This unit is non-returnable; verify door opening dimensions and projection requirements before installation.
