The VERMONT GAGE 112101720 is a Class ZZ Plus plug gage machined from tool steel and used to verify bore and hole diameters to tight tolerances. This gage measures a nominal diameter of 1.72 mm with a tolerance of 0.005 mm, making it well-suited for go inspection work where dimensional accuracy is critical. The working surface carries a 10 microfinish for consistent, repeatable contact with the part being inspected. Each unit ships with a Certificate of Accuracy traceable to NIST, supporting documentation requirements for quality management systems. Machinists, quality technicians, and metrology lab personnel use this type of plug gage in production and inspection environments.
This plug gage is designed for go inspection tasks on small-diameter bores in precision machined components. It is also used to set and verify micrometers, verniers, and other measuring devices requiring a known reference standard. The 1.72 mm diameter class makes it appropriate for small-bore applications found in medical, aerospace, and general precision machining. The overall length of 2.0 inches allows for easy handling and use with standard gage holders. It conforms to ASME B89.1 standards, which are widely referenced in dimensional metrology and quality control operations.
Designed for use in go inspection of small-diameter bores and as a reference standard for setting micrometers, verniers, and other measuring devices requiring a traceable dimensional reference.
Plug gages of this type are used by quality technicians and machinists and require no installation in the traditional sense. Before use, clean the gage and the bore being inspected to remove debris, oil, and burrs that could affect readings or damage the gage surface. Store the gage in its protective case when not in use to prevent surface damage that could compromise accuracy. Periodic recalibration against a traceable standard is recommended to maintain measurement integrity over time.
