The VERMONT GAGE 111288400 is a Class ZZ Minus plug pin gage machined to a 0.8840-inch nominal diameter for NoGo inspection work. Pin gages in this class are single-ended, go-or-no-go tools used to verify that a bored or reamed hole does not fall below its minimum acceptable size. The minus tolerance designation means the gage is ground below nominal, conforming to ASME B89.1.5 Class ZZ standards for general-purpose inspection. Overall length is 2 inches. Tolerance is held to 0.0002 inch. A Certificate of Accuracy with NIST traceability is included, supporting documented quality-control programs and ISO-compliant inspection records.
This gage is suited for production floor and toolroom inspection of machined holes, bores, and drilled passages in manufacturing environments. Its primary application is NoGo checking, where the gage must not enter a correctly sized hole. It is also used to set and verify micrometers, verniers, and other dimensional measuring devices requiring a known reference standard. Machinists, quality technicians, and toolroom inspectors are the typical end users. The 0.8840-inch size covers common bore diameters found in mid-range mechanical assemblies and fixture work.
Designed as a NoGo plug pin gage for use in any inspection station or toolroom application requiring a 0.8840-inch Class ZZ Minus reference standard, including use with micrometers, verniers, and comparable dimensional measuring devices.
Plug pin gages are handled and deployed by quality technicians and machinists following standard dimensional inspection procedures. Store the gage in its case and apply a light coat of rust-preventive oil when not in use to maintain the ground surface finish. Never force a pin gage into a hole; hand pressure only is appropriate when performing NoGo checks. Clean the gage and the bore with a lint-free cloth before each use to prevent debris from affecting measurement accuracy.
