The VARGUS 80353 is a helical flute thread mill designed for cutting internal M16x2 ISO metric threads in demanding machining environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with TiCN, this tool delivers consistent thread form and long tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features 4 right-hand helical flutes, a 0.625 inch shank diameter, a 0.535 inch cutting diameter, and a 0.984 inch length of cut. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat control during deep or tight-tolerance threading operations. Machinists and CNC programmers working in production or job-shop environments will recognize this as a solid-carbide, single-point thread milling solution for precise internal thread generation.
This thread mill is suited for use on CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation. It is intended for internal threading applications where M16x2 ISO metric threads are required. Typical install scenarios include threading bored holes in workpieces made from steel, stainless, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. With an overall length of 3.622 inches, it is compatible with standard tool holders accepting a 0.625 inch shank. The TiCN coating provides added surface hardness and lubricity, making it well-suited for higher-speed threading cycles and abrasive materials.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers with helical interpolation capability; accepts standard 0.625 inch shank toolholders and produces M16x2 ISO internal threads.
This tool is installed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians using a compatible collet or end mill holder sized for a 0.625 inch shank. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is properly torqued in the holder before beginning any operation. Program the CNC control for helical interpolation at the appropriate feed rate and spindle speed for the workpiece material. Verify coolant-through flow is active before engaging the cut to protect the tool and maintain chip clearance.
