The VARGUS 80299 is a solid carbide helical flute thread mill designed for internal thread milling operations on CNC machining centers. It produces UNEF and UNF threads at 24 teeth per inch (TPI) across multiple thread sizes including 3/8-24, 9/16-24, and 11/16-24. With a 3-flute right-hand helical geometry and a cutting diameter of 0.3230 inches, it delivers clean, accurate thread profiles in a single helical interpolation pass. Coolant-through capability keeps cutting temperatures in check during production runs in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This tool is suited for job shops, aerospace component manufacturers, and precision machining operations requiring consistent internal thread quality. The 0.3750-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and shrink-fit holders commonly found on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Its 0.7710-inch length of cut accommodates typical thread depth requirements for UNF and UNEF fastener applications. The bright, uncoated finish makes it a straightforward choice for aluminum, brass, and other materials where coatings are unnecessary or undesirable.
Designed for internal thread milling of UNEF and UNF threads at 24 TPI, covering thread sizes 3/8-24, 9/16-24, and 11/16-24, on CNC machining centers equipped with helical interpolation capability and a standard 3/8-inch collet or tool holder.
Thread mills must be installed in a tool holder appropriate for the 0.3750-inch shank diameter and secured to the manufacturer-specified torque for the holder type before initiating the cut. Verify that the machining center control supports helical interpolation before programming. Confirm coolant-through supply pressure is compatible with the spindle and tool holder assembly. Always inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use, as carbide tools are sensitive to improper handling and interrupted cuts.
