The VARGUS 80285 is a helical flute thread mill engineered for cutting internal M10x1 ISO metric threads in demanding machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with TiCN, this tool delivers wear resistance and edge integrity across a broad range of workpiece materials. It runs three flutes in a right-hand flute direction, with a cutting diameter of 0.3430 inches and a length of cut of 0.8070 inches. Overall length measures 2.8740 inches with a 3/8 inch shank diameter. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal management during thread milling operations. Machinists and CNC programmers use this tool where tapping is not practical or where thread quality and flexibility are the priority.
This thread mill is suited for internal thread generation on CNC machining centers in both production and job-shop environments. It is designed for ISO-standard M10x1 threads with a minimum nominal diameter of 10.00 mm, making it appropriate for precision components requiring controlled thread form and surface finish. The helical interpolation approach allows a single tool to produce the full thread depth in one pass while maintaining close tolerances on thread pitch and profile.
Designed for use on CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation, producing ISO-standard M10x1 internal threads. Consult tool path parameters and machine spindle specifications before use.
This tool is installed and operated by CNC machinists and toolroom professionals. Secure the 3/8 inch shank in a collet chuck or toolholder rated for the required runout tolerance before use. Program the machine for helical interpolation at the correct pitch and radial engagement per the tool manufacturer cutting data. Verify coolant-through supply is active and at adequate pressure before initiating the threading cycle.
