The VARGUS 80250 is a straight-flute internal thread mill designed for cutting internal threads in a CNC milling environment. It features a solid carbide construction with 3 flutes and a bright finish, producing clean thread forms at 32 teeth per inch (TPI). The 1/4-inch shank diameter keeps it compatible with standard collet toolholding systems. A cutting diameter of 0.126 inches and a length of cut of 0.512 inches make it well-suited for threading smaller-diameter holes, while the 2.244-inch overall length provides adequate reach in typical machining setups. Machinists and CNC operators use this tool where tapping is impractical or where a single tool must produce multiple thread sizes.
This thread mill is intended for internal thread applications in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where UNC or UNF thread standards are required. It is suited for use in CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation. The minimum nominal thread diameter supported is No. 8 (number 8). Typical applications include precision components requiring clean, accurate internal threads without the breakage risk associated with solid taps in difficult materials or blind holes.
Designed for internal thread milling operations conforming to UNC and UNF thread standards, compatible with CNC machining centers using helical interpolation and standard 1/4-inch collet or toolholder systems.
Installation and operation of this tool should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the tool is properly seated and secured in a 1/4-inch collet or toolholder before spindle engagement. Verify that the CNC program uses the correct helical interpolation path and feed rate for the target thread size and material. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use, as solid carbide tooling can chip if subjected to interrupted cuts or excessive runout.
