The VARGUS 67131 is a solid carbide indexable thread mill designed for both internal and external threading operations in demanding machining environments. With a cutting diameter of 1.44 inches and a maximum hole depth of 5.7 inches, this tool handles deep-thread applications where rigid setup and consistent thread form are required. The 67131 accepts three indexable threading inserts (style 3UI, size 0.375 inches) held by screw clamp, and features through-coolant capability to manage heat and chip evacuation during threading passes. The Weldon flat shank measures 1.25 inches in diameter, providing positive drive and minimal runout in standard collet chucks and milling holders. Right-hand cutting direction. CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers.
The 67131 is suited for CNC milling centers performing thread milling on medium-to-large diameter features in production or job-shop environments. Its overall length of 8.819 inches and neck diameter of 1.1 inches allow reach into deeper bores while maintaining clearance. The three-flute configuration supports balanced chip load across internal and external thread profiles. Through-coolant delivery keeps the cutting zone clear during multi-pass threading cycles, making this tool appropriate for both ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials where thread quality and tool life are priorities.
Designed as an OEM-style indexable thread mill compatible with CNC milling machines equipped with standard Weldon flat collet or milling chuck holders sized for a 1.25-inch shank diameter.
Thread mills of this type are installed and set up by CNC machinists or tooling specialists. Confirm spindle taper and holder bore are clean and within tolerance before mounting. Engage through-coolant supply lines before running threading cycles, and verify insert seating and screw torque against the insert manufacturer guidelines before first use. Do not exceed the recommended axial depth of cut per pass as specified in the threading insert manufacturer data sheet.
