The VARGUS 67117 is a solid carbide indexable thread mill designed for internal threading operations in machining and milling applications. Built on a Weldon Flat shank with a 1 inch shank diameter, this tool accepts two 2UI-style inserts held by screw-lock retention. The cutting diameter measures 0.813 inches with a neck diameter of 0.660 inches, allowing clearance in bored or drilled features. Maximum hole depth reaches 2.36 inches, and overall tool length is 4.921 inches. Through-coolant capability supports extended tool life and chip evacuation in deep threading passes. Right-hand cutting direction and a two-flute configuration make this tool suitable for efficient thread milling in a range of materials.
This thread mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers where internal threads are produced by a helical interpolation path rather than a traditional tap. It is well suited for shops threading hard or difficult-to-tap materials, large thread pitches, or features where rigid tapping is not practical. The Weldon Flat shank provides positive drive and minimizes pullout under cutting loads. Insert-based construction allows cutting edges to be replaced without discarding the toolholder body, reducing long-term tooling cost in production environments.
Designed as an OEM-style indexable thread mill compatible with CNC machining centers accepting a 1 inch Weldon Flat shank toolholder and using 2UI-style threading inserts.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Verify spindle and collet or side-lock holder specifications match the 1 inch Weldon Flat shank before mounting. Program helical interpolation paths per the thread pitch and insert geometry before running; do not use this tool as a rigid tap. Confirm through-coolant supply pressure is active and flow is unobstructed before initiating the threading cycle.
