The VARGUS 66098 is an indexable internal threading toolholder designed for right-hand cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts a 3IR insert secured by screw clamping, making insert changes fast and repeatable. The shank measures 0.75 inches wide by 0.67 inches tall with a 5.5-inch shank length and an overall length of 7 inches. Minimum bore diameter is 0.9 inches, making it suited for threading smaller internal diameters where rigidity and clearance are both critical. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation during deep threading passes. This toolholder is installed by machinists and CNC programmers working in production turning environments.
The VARGUS 66098 is used for internal threading applications in both job-shop and production turning settings. The AVRC toolholder style and Standard series designation make it a straightforward fit for shops running common insert geometries on CNC lathes. A maximum depth of cut of 3 inches and a head length of 1.5 inches support threading into bores requiring extended reach. The center-to-cutting-edge dimension is 0.51 inches. This toolholder is appropriate for threading operations in steel, aluminum, and similar machinable materials where a repeatable, indexable solution is preferred over a single-point brazed tool.
Designed to accept 3IR threading inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, secured by screw clamping. Compatible with CNC lathes and turning centers configured for AVRC-style internal threading toolholders with a 0.75-inch by 0.67-inch rectangular shank.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before mounting, confirm the turret or tool block is de-energized and the spindle is fully stopped. Seat the shank squarely in the tool block and torque the clamping screws to the machine manufacturer's specification. Verify minimum bore clearance against the 0.9-inch minimum bore diameter before initiating a threading cycle, and confirm coolant lines are connected if through-coolant is required.
