The VARGUS 65115 is a carbide thread mill insert designed for internal ISO threading operations on CNC milling machines and machining centers. This single-insert unit carries a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating applied via PVD process, which improves surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. The insert is manufactured from micrograin carbide stock and assigned manufacturer grade VBX, positioning it for demanding cutting applications. It targets ISO-standard thread profiles at a 1mm pitch and fits the Standard TM series toolholders. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shops or production environments are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for internal thread milling on superalloy and titanium workpieces, categorized under primary workpiece material code N. That application focus makes it appropriate for aerospace, medical device, and high-performance industrial machining where those materials are common. The 1mm pitch ISO thread profile conforms to R262 (DIN 13) standards. The insert style designation is 3I with an insert size code of 3, and it accepts an inscribed circle of 3/8 inch (9.53mm). It is a replacement or web-only SKU sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order cycle.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for VARGUS Standard TM series internal thread mill toolholders accepting a 3I insert style with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping screws to seat the insert properly in the pocket - do not overtighten by hand estimation. Verify thread pitch and toolpath programming before resuming cutting, particularly when transitioning between workpiece materials.
