The VARGUS 59361 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for right-hand external Acme 3G thread cutting at 6 threads per inch. Manufactured to the VTX grade specification, this insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which builds surface hardness and thermal resistance for extended tool life in demanding threading operations. The 29-degree included angle conforms to standard Acme thread geometry. With an inscribed circle of 12.70 mm and a thickness of 4.76 mm, the 59361 fits standard 4ER toolholders and is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in job shop and production environments.
This insert is suited for external Acme thread turning on a wide range of workpiece materials. The Universal primary workpiece material classification covers carbon steels, alloy steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, making the 59361 a flexible option across varied production runs. Typical applications include lead screws, power transmission components, and linear actuator shafts where Acme thread form accuracy and surface finish are critical. The 4ER insert style is used in right-hand external threading operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers.
Designed for use in 4ER-style laydown threading toolholders for right-hand external Acme 3G threading at 6 TPI. Workpiece material compatibility codes H, K, M, N, P, and S indicate suitability across hardened materials, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation and indexing of threading inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a powered-off and locked-out state. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of debris before seating the insert to maintain accurate thread form geometry. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque specifications for the clamping screw. Do not use inserts that show visible chipping, coating wear through to substrate, or deformation, as degraded inserts can produce out-of-tolerance thread profiles.
