The VARGUS 54020 is a solid carbide external threading insert designed for precision thread cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured in the 3ER style with a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch) inscribed circle, this insert produces Whitworth-form external threads at 11 TPI. The VK2P micrograin carbide grade delivers a bright, uncoated finish suited for threading operations where a PVD coating process is specified but a bare substrate is preferred for certain work materials. Right-hand orientation is standard. This insert is intended for use by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators working to Whitworth thread standards.

This insert is applied in external threading operations on turned components where Whitworth thread profiles are required.
