The VARGUS 53701 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal UN thread cutting operations. Manufactured from solid carbide with a TiAlN coating applied via a PVD process, this insert delivers hardness and thermal resistance suited to demanding threading applications. The insert follows the 2JIR16UN VCB designation: right-hand cutting, 16 threads per inch, a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 60-degree included angle, and an SCB chipbreaker geometry. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working with CNC lathes and manual turning centers where precise internal thread profiles are required.

This insert is intended for internal threading of UN-standard thread forms per ANSI B1.1:74.
