The VARGUS 53576 is a laydown threading insert designed for right-hand external UN thread cutting at 18 threads per inch. Manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, it delivers consistent thread form and extended tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 60-degree included angle, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a style 3ER profile with an SCB chipbreaker geometry. It is sized for use in standard laydown threading toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators install these inserts in production and maintenance threading applications where repeatable UN thread profiles are required.
The 53576 is suited for external threading operations on turning centers and manual lathes in both production and job-shop environments. Its universal workpiece material designation covers a wide range of materials including carbon steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. This makes it a practical stocking insert for shops running varied material schedules without switching grades between jobs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement threading insert for standard laydown toolholders accepting a 3ER insert style with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC setup technicians. Disengage the machine spindle and confirm the turret or toolpost is fully stopped before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify thread form and pitch with a thread gauge on the first part after any insert change.
