The VARGUS 53575 is a laydown threading insert designed for external UN thread cutting at 16 threads per inch (TPI). Made from solid carbide with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, this insert delivers consistent thread form and wear resistance across a wide range of workpiece materials. The 3ER insert style seats in standard laydown toolholders and features a 60-degree included angle suited for unified national thread profiles. The SCB chipbreaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation during threading passes. Machinists and CNC lathe operators working in job shop, production, or maintenance environments will find this insert suitable for general-purpose external threading applications.
This insert is rated for use on a broad spectrum of workpiece materials, covering primary material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, which correspond to hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. It is well suited for both light-production and high-mix turning operations where a single insert grade needs to handle varied incoming material. Right-hand cutting orientation is standard. Typical installation is in a CNC or manual lathe with a compatible 3ER-style laydown threading toolholder.
Designed for use in 3ER-style laydown threading toolholders that accept a 3/8 inch inscribed circle insert. Compatible across workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer. No additional specific model or system compatibility data was provided in the product input.
This insert is installed and serviced by machinists or CNC lathe operators. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping screw are clean and free of chips before installation to achieve proper seating and thread form accuracy. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping specifications for the 3ER insert style.
