The VARGUS 52836 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for cutting internal Stub Acme threads at 8 threads per inch (TPI). It carries a TiN coating applied via PVD process, which improves surface hardness and extends tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 29-degree included angle consistent with the Stub Acme thread form standard and is sized with a 3/8-inch (9.53 mm) inscribed circle and a thickness of 3.6 mm. Right-hand orientation is standard. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators use this insert in threading operations on lathes equipped for internal boring and threading work.
This insert is suited for internal Stub Acme threading applications in both production and job-shop environments. The Stub Acme thread form is common in power-transmission components, lead screws, linear actuators, and valve stems where a coarser, lower-profile thread is required. The VKX grade and TiN coating support use across universal workpiece material groups including ferrous, non-ferrous, stainless, heat-resistant alloy, and cast materials, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is sold individually and ordered in multiples of 10.
Designed for use in insert-style threading toolholders accepting the 3IR insert style with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert pocket dimensions before installation.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque specifications for the clamping screw. Ensure the lathe spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris prior to seating the new insert. Do not exceed the recommended depth-of-cut or feed rate parameters published by VARGUS for this insert grade and thread form.
