The VARGUS 52396 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for cutting internal Stub Acme threads on CNC lathes and threading centers. Manufactured to the 3IR insert style, it profiles right-hand internal threads at 12 threads per inch (TPI) to the Stub Acme standard, which features a 29-degree included angle. The insert is finished with a PVD-applied TiN coating for wear resistance and is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, covering material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. It measures 9.53 mm inscribed circle (equivalent to 3/8 inch) and 3.60 mm thick. This insert is produced under ISO 9001:2008 quality standards.
This insert is suited for threading operations in general machining and production environments where Stub Acme internal thread forms are required. The Stub Acme profile is commonly used in lead screws, linear actuators, and feed mechanisms across industrial and machine-tool applications. Machinists working with ferrous metals, non-ferrous alloys, heat-resistant superalloys, stainless steels, and plastics will find the universal material code rating appropriate for a broad range of threading jobs. It is typically installed in a standard 3IR toolholder designed for laydown insert geometry.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for 3IR laydown threading toolholders that accept a 3/8 inch inscribed circle insert. Minimum order quantity is 10 pieces; package quantity is 1.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with indexable threading insert toolholders. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert clamp - do not overtighten by feel alone; follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance. Verify thread form and pitch with a thread gauge before running production parts.
