The VARGUS 52380 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for internal American Buttress thread cutting at 12 threads per inch (TPI). Manufactured to the 3IR insert style with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 3.6 mm thickness, this insert carries a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating applied to a VKX carbide grade. It is built for right-hand internal threading operations on CNC lathes and threading toolholders where consistent thread form accuracy is required across a range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in precision machining, energy, and industrial manufacturing environments are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is suited for internal American Buttress thread profiles conforming to ANSI B1.9-1973. The 45-degree included angle and single-tooth-per-side geometry make it appropriate for controlled threading passes on materials spanning carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nonferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and plastics. The Universal primary workpiece material classification covers material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S, making this a versatile option across varied production and job-shop applications.
Designed for use in standard 3IR threading toolholders accepting laydown-style inserts for internal American Buttress thread applications. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S per the VKX grade classification. Conforms to ANSI B1.9-1973 and manufactured under ISO 9001:2008 quality standards.
This insert is installed and indexed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Seat the insert firmly and evenly in the toolholder pocket and verify clamp torque with the toolholder manufacturer's specification before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material group being threaded.
