The VARGUS 52359 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal NPT thread cutting on a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 3IR insert style with an 11.5 threads-per-inch pitch and a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, making it suited for standard pipe thread profiles. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and carries a TiN coating applied via a PVD process, which helps maintain cutting edge hardness and resist wear during threading operations. The 30-degree included angle matches the NPT thread form geometry. This insert is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals working with CNC lathes or manual threading setups.
The VARGUS 52359 is used for right-hand internal NPT threading across a broad range of materials, including ferrous metals, stainless steels, aluminum, exotic alloys, and non-metallic workpieces, as reflected by the universal primary workpiece material designation covering material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Typical applications include pipe fitting manufacture, hydraulic component threading, and fluid system component production in both production shop and job shop environments.
Designed for use in laydown threading toolholders accepting the 3IR insert style with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Suitable for internal NPT threading applications across workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolholder clamping procedures for laydown threading inserts. Ensure the toolholder and insert seat are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert to prevent improper clamping and edge damage. Verify correct insert orientation for right-hand internal thread cutting before initiating a cut. Follow all machine guarding and lockout procedures per facility safety standards when changing inserts.
