The VARGUS 52295 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert designed for cutting right-hand internal Stub Acme threads on a lathe or CNC turning center. It carries the VTX manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, which improves wear resistance and extends tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert produces a 10 TPI Stub Acme thread profile per ANSI B1.8:1988 and features a 29-degree included angle. With a 3/8-inch (9.53 mm) inscribed circle and a thickness of 3.60 mm, it seats in compatible 3IR-style toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators installing threaded lead screws, jack screws, or power transmission components are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is suited for internal threading operations on a broad range of materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, as reflected by its universal primary workpiece material classification (H, K, M, N, P, S material codes). It is commonly used in production shops, job shops, and maintenance machining environments where Stub Acme thread forms are specified. The 3IR insert style is compatible with standard 3IR internal threading toolholders. This SKU is sold individually but requires a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed for use in 3IR-style internal threading toolholders that accept inserts with a 3/8-inch (9.53 mm) inscribed circle and a 3.60 mm thickness. Specific toolholder compatibility should be verified against the toolholder manufacturer's insert seating specifications before use.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, power down the machine and lock out the spindle per applicable shop lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct torque wrench and insert clamp screws specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamping force. Verify insert seating and tool geometry offset in the machine controller before taking the first threading pass.
