The VARGUS 51077 is a laydown-style threading insert engineered for external ISO metric threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, it delivers consistent thread form and extended tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert produces a 60-degree included angle conforming to ISO metric thread standards, with a 1.50 mm pitch and a 3.60 mm thickness. It carries the VTX grade designation and is produced under ISO 9001:2008 quality standards, making it a reliable choice for production threading environments.
This insert is suited for right-hand external threading in both light and heavy production settings. The 3ER insert style fits standard 3ER-compatible toolholders commonly found in job shops and production turning cells. With a primary workpiece material designation of Universal, it is rated for use across material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering steels, stainless steels, aluminum alloys, cast irons, superalloys, and hardened materials. It conforms to DIN 13 thread standards and is appropriate for ISO metric thread profiles in general machining applications.
Designed for use in 3ER-style external threading toolholders. Compatible with ISO metric thread profiles at 1.50 mm pitch conforming to DIN 13. Rated for workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key for the clamping screw and do not overtighten, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and susceptible to fracture under uneven clamping load. Verify toolholder and insert pocket condition before use - damaged pockets will compromise thread accuracy and insert seating.
