The VARGUS 51062 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert engineered for external ISO threading operations on CNC lathes and threading machines. Manufactured to the 3ER insert style with a 1.25mm pitch and a 60-degree included angle, this insert follows the ISO thread standard and delivers a precise right-hand thread profile. The TiN coating is applied via PVD process, providing surface hardness and wear resistance across a wide range of workpiece materials. At 3.6mm thick with a 9.53mm inscribed circle, the insert seats securely in compatible 3ER toolholders and holds dimensional tolerances required for production threading work. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in metalworking shops are the primary installers and users.
This insert is suited for external threading on workpieces classified across universal material groups, including ferrous, non-ferrous, stainless, heat-resistant alloys, and cast materials. The VKX manufacturer grade and PVD TiN finish make it appropriate for general-purpose and production threading across job shops and manufacturing facilities. It is sold individually per package, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it practical for toolroom stocking and production line replenishment.
Designed for use in 3ER-style external threading toolholders. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering a broad range of metalworking applications. Conforms to DIN 13 thread geometry standards.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine fully stopped and in a safe, locked-out state before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified for the toolholder clamping screw and ensure the insert seats flat in the pocket without rocking before torquing. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Always verify thread pitch and hand orientation against the job setup sheet before beginning a threading pass.
