The VARGUS 50026 is a carbide thread mill insert engineered for internal threading operations on a thread milling toolholder. It carries a TiAlN finish applied via PVD coating process and is ground from micrograin carbide stock under the VTX manufacturer grade designation. The insert covers a pitch range of 2.5 to 4mm (10 to 6 TPI) using a partial profile 60-degree thread form, making it a versatile choice for shops that thread a range of fastener sizes without changing insert geometry. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited to internal threading applications on ferrous workpiece materials, particularly steel (material code P). The partial profile 60-degree standard allows a single insert to cut threads across the covered pitch range rather than being locked to one thread pitch, reducing tooling inventory. The 6.35mm inscribed circle (IC) locates the insert within compatible 2UI-style toolholders. Typical use cases include threading tapped bores in steel components on vertical and horizontal machining centers running thread mill cycles.
Designed for use in 2UI-style thread mill toolholders accepting a 6.35mm inscribed circle insert. Compatible workpiece material is steel (P-class). Pitch coverage is 2.5 to 4mm (10 to 6 TPI) on partial profile 60-degree internal threads.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the toolholder secured in a machine spindle or a stable bench vise, following the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for the clamping screw. Confirm the insert is fully seated against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid edge chipping; do not use bare hands if the cutting edges are exposed. Verify thread mill program parameters match the insert pitch range before running the first cut.
