The VALUE COLLECTION ZMSCV70283 is a Dash 283 Viton (fluoroelastomer) O-ring designed for static and dynamic sealing applications where exposure to petroleum products, high temperatures, or a wide range of chemicals is expected. It measures 17 inches inside diameter by 17.25 inches outside diameter with a cross-sectional thickness of 0.125 inches and a round cross-section profile. The compound is rated at 70 Shore A hardness, which falls in the hard range, and carries a working temperature range of -15 degrees F to 400 degrees F. HVAC, plumbing, and industrial maintenance technicians use this O-ring as a replacement seal in large-diameter flanged assemblies, pump housings, and fluid system couplings.
This O-ring is suited for sealing applications involving petroleum-based fluids, hydraulic oils, fuels, and many industrial chemicals. Its low compression set characteristic helps it maintain a reliable seal under sustained clamping loads. The low gas permeability rating also makes it a practical choice for vacuum service applications. Typical installation scenarios include large-bore pipe flanges, heat exchanger covers, pump volute joints, and industrial valve bonnets found in commercial mechanical systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or MRO seal for large-diameter assemblies requiring a Dash 283 O-ring groove. Compatible with petroleum products and systems where fluoroelastomer seals are specified. Not FDA approved; not intended for food-contact applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified plumber, pipefitter, or mechanical technician following applicable IPC or ASME guidelines. De-pressurize and drain the system before removing any existing seals or opening flanged joints. Lubricate the O-ring with a compatible fluid or grease before seating it in the groove to prevent tearing during assembly. Avoid twisting or spiraling the O-ring during installation, as this can compromise the sealing surface and reduce service life.
