The VALUE COLLECTION ZMSCS70228 is a Dash 228 silicone O-ring with a round cross section, sized at 2.25 inches inside diameter, 2.5 inches outside diameter, and 0.125 inches thick. Rated at 70 Shore hardness, this O-ring is designed for sealing applications that demand a wide operating temperature range, from -80 degrees F to 450 degrees F. Silicone compound provides good dry heat resistance along with strong weather and ozone resistance. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general industrial maintenance professionals install these in fluid, pneumatic, and mechanical assemblies where reliable static or low-motion sealing is required. Each package contains 10 O-rings.
This O-ring is suited for residential and commercial maintenance, repair, and retrofit applications involving oils, chemicals, and solvents where limited oil exposure is acceptable. The Dash 228 size is a standard AS568 designation, making it straightforward to cross-reference against existing specifications. Typical applications include pump housings, valve bonnets, pipe fittings, and equipment access covers where elevated or sub-zero temperatures cycle repeatedly. This is not a high-oil-immersion compound; consult material compatibility data when prolonged petroleum exposure is expected.
Designed as a standard Dash 228 replacement O-ring for any application requiring a 2.25 inches ID by 2.5 inches OD by 0.125 inches thick silicone seal. Verify material compatibility with the specific fluid or media present before installation.
Shut down and depressurize any system before removing the existing O-ring to avoid injury or contamination. Clean the groove and mating surfaces of debris and old sealant before seating the new O-ring. A light coating of compatible lubricant helps seat the O-ring without rolling or twisting during assembly. Silicone O-rings are generally not compatible with silicone-based lubricants; use a compatible grease per the equipment manufacturer guidance.
