The VALUE COLLECTION ZMSCHB90022 is a rectangular cross-section backup ring made from Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR), designed to prevent O-ring extrusion in hydraulic and pneumatic sealing systems operating under pressure. It measures 1.18 inches inside diameter, 1.124 inches outside diameter, and 0.047 inches thick, with a Dash 8-022 designation. Rated at 90 durometer (extra hard), this backup ring provides firm support behind a primary O-ring, reducing seal deformation and extending service life in high-pressure or dynamic applications. The operating temperature range spans -40 to 250 degrees F, making it suitable for a broad range of fluid and gas service environments.
This backup ring is used in hydraulic cylinders, pneumatic actuators, valve assemblies, and fluid fittings where a primary O-ring requires extrusion protection. The rectangular cross-section seats against the O-ring to block gap extrusion under pressure spikes or sustained load. It is appropriate for both stationary and dynamic sealing grooves, typically installed by industrial maintenance technicians, hydraulic system specialists, and plumbing or fluid-power professionals. The NBR compound offers solid resistance to petroleum-based oils, fuels, and many water-based fluids.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or maintenance backup ring for Dash 8-022 groove profiles in hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid-handling assemblies requiring a rectangular NBR backup ring.
Backup rings are typically installed by hydraulic or pneumatic system technicians following the equipment manufacturer's seal replacement procedure. De-energize and depressurize the system fully before disassembling any sealing components. Use appropriate seal picks and installation tools to avoid nicking or twisting the ring during installation. Inspect the mating groove and hardware surfaces for burrs or damage before seating the backup ring.
